Bridging the Disability Employment Divide. Program set up in cooperation with Specialisterne (Thorkil Sonne) and UBS to train young adults with autism and then transition them into the workforce. Another person who works in Nashville office is Diane Shea, the delivery expert. diane.shea@theprecisionists.com.
The Precisionists is a for-profit consulting firm that started in Delaware as a "B" corporation (they have a mission to give back in some way to the community). They are now in Nashville lining up clients and have already completed two 4-week training sessions. Will be moving to a facility soon near Metro Center and plan to open other facilities in different parts of the area. Prior to choosing trainees, they require them to attend a 2-4 hr. information workshop to get to know the potential candidates. Family members, job coaches, etc. are also encouraged to attend. If accepted, they will then go through a 4-week training program to gain confidence, build trust, learn to work in teams, etc. They will then try to place candidates in jobs suitable to their skills and needs in a variety of industries (not just technology).
They plan on having 3-4 classes per year from now on. Interested parties can go on website and fill out a statement of interest (put down that you heard about it from Autism TN!) or can contact Kendal directly.
