Conference Information

With the theme “Strategies for Success,” we will provide practical ways to support learning and emotional growth allowing for increased independence.  Attendees who will benefit from this conference include educators, administrators, and support staff, speech language pathologists, occupational therapists, and caregivers. Each attendee will use the information presented at our Strategies for Success Conference to enrich the lives and experiences of individuals on the autism spectrum. We hope you will consider being part of this exciting event.

The conference format will entail three topic sessions that are broken into ability/age (early childhood, elementary, secondary):

  • Session 1: Behavior- Topics including functions of behavior and behavior interventions- modeling, prompting, token boards, incentives, ABC model, replacement behavior, de-escalation.
  • Session 2: Antecedents- Topics including schedules, technology, task modification, including visuals, practical tips, classroom applications, and accommodations.
  • Session 3: Self-Regulation- Topics including calming strategies, environmental factors, proprioceptive and vestibular input, planning and organizing, self-monitoring, co-regulation support.

Participants will leave with the knowledge and skills to use practical tools to create a supportive environment for growth and learning. Our hope is that the skills and tools learned will be used beyond the walls of the special education classroom.

Know an amazing educator? Nominate them for the Coston Education Award!
