Join Our Team as an Adult HELPline Advocate!

Are you passionate about AutismTN's mission and dedicated to making a difference in the autism community? Do you have experience in resource and information management and a deep understanding of the needs of autistic adults? If so, we’d love to hear from you!

As the Adult HELPline Advocate, you’ll be vital in connecting individuals with neuro-affirming resources through email, text, and phone calls. You’ll also maintain detailed call logs in our resource database to ensure efficient and effective support.

This independent, resource-driven position has no supervisory responsibilities, but it offers meaningful opportunities to collaborate with team members and directly impact our community. We’re looking for someone with strong time management, technical, and organizational skills and the ability to handle resource requests at various stages using a dynamic, person-centered approach.

Whether you are an autistic adult, a parent/caregiver, or an area service provider, Autism Tennessee's HELPline is here to connect with you!  We maintain an Information and Resource database to assist you as you navigate your journey with autism.  We know there is no "one size fits all" approach. When you contact us (via phone, text, email, or social media message) looking for information and resources, our HELPline Advocates will listen to your questions/needs and guide you to the available resources that best fit your geographic, financial, or (other) needs ranging from, but not limited to:

  • evaluation providers,
  • medical providers,
  • therapy providers including OT, Speech, ABA, Psychology/Psychiatry,
  • Information on TennCare, SSDI, SSI, ECF Waiver, Katie Becket Waiver, Family Support Programs
  • Community Events - educational, recreation, etc

…among so many others!

Our Options Policy promotes the active and informed involvement of autistic people in the planning of individualized, appropriate services and supports.

Can we recommend schools for your child(ren)?
We do not maintain a list of schools, but can connect you with area Parent Networking groups in your area.

Do we have recommendations for evaluation providers?
Our Information and Resources database is updated regularly with Community Partners that provide full psychological evaluations for people of all ages.

Where can I find support / networking groups?
AutismTN hosts many social networking groups for autistic teens and adults, as well as parents and caregivers that are available both in-person and online.
