Game Day Special Event - MNPD Mock Traffic Stop Event

Join us for a "Mock Traffic Stop" event on Saturday, September 9th!

From 12 noon to 1:30 P.M. on Saturday, September 9, 2023, Sergeant Cecilia Gomez of the MNPD will be back to host a "Mock Traffic Stop" event. We will review safety during a traffic stop. Then, we will be treated to a tour of a SWAT truck. The traffic stop demonstration will be indoors, and the SWAT truck tour will be outside. Our regular game day will follow from 1:30 P.M. to 3:00 P.M.

Being stopped by the police can be intimidating, especially if you are on the autistic spectrum. During this "Mock Traffic Stop" event,  we hope to accomplish the following:

• Discussion of the importance of acting safe when stopped by police
• Showing an ID card a stopped person can show to the office
• Demonstration of an unsafe way to do show ID card
• Demonstration of a safe way to show ID card
• How to create an ID card
• Participants are invited to do a practice traffic stop
• Participants are invited outside to tour the SWAT truck

Cost:
AutismTN Members can attend this event at no change.
Non-Members can attend for $5 per person.
