Medicaid Alternative Pathways to Independence (MAPs): Tools, Technology, and Support for People with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities who want to Increase Their Independence

The Department of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (DIDD) is launching an exciting new program called Medicaid Alternative Pathways to Independence (MAPs). MAPs will support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities who want to increase their independence. MAPs is for those who want to learn skills to help them work, live independently, learn about their neighborhoods, and find hobbies that interest them. The program will give people the tools, technology, and support they need to meet their goals at home, at work, and in their community.

Jay Camperlino is the Youth Transitions Director for the Tennessee Department of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (DIDD). Jay has worked in the field of providing supports to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities for over 20 years including providing foster-based services to individuals with disabilities out of his home and most recently the Executive Director of a Children and Adult Foster Care placement agency within Middle Tennessee. Jay is responsible for launching and directing the Medicaid Alternative Pathways to Independence (MAPs) program.
